“P” above would readily come across as Point... But Christmas would be grossly overrated if it was just about being “On Point”... Yeah...Yeah I’ve heard a couple of ill reports about the origins... not the real birth date of Jesus... 25th December was originally a day set aside to worship the Roman sun god... No one knows Jesus’ birthday.... according to the biblical-historical-Jewish-calendar Jesus wasn’t even born in December.... Wow! Quite a lot of energy spent on researching about what is “apparently irrelevant”
If His birth were not relevant, why would the Gregorian calendar that finds its pivot on this birth run the affairs of over 69% of the world’s population? The BC and The AD keep popping up every time we knock on the vaults of history. Dude was born someday and it would have been awkward ,and will remain so, if the saviour of the world was not celebrated – His birth being my point of reference.
I might not be certain about His exact birthday and I might not be certain about the Origins of “Christmas”... but one thing is certain “JESUS was born” and because He did I AM A CHRIST REP... Without a birth, there wouldn’t have been a death leading to a triumphant resurrection.
God bless Dionysius Exiguus, whoever he was and wherever he is, for harmonizing a date for everyone to follow and celebrate the birth of Jesus. A date was set not because it was exact but to re-enact the purpose of Jesus’ birth yearly. Christmas goes beyond a date and a religion; it is a celebration of the awesome love of God... It is The worship of God’s divine timely intervention in the affairs of a “Dying World”...
Isaiah and Luke both affirm the birth of Jesus, the son of the Most High God, Prince of peace, Emmanuel, Counsellor, Mighty God, The bread, The Good Shepherd, Saviour of the World, and The Relevant Christ. He was born for a purpose and on purpose.
To save the entire universe by restoring what was originally ours to us – that was his purpose. Whatever the race, whatever the religion, whatever the philosophy, whenever a child is born into a family, there is a celebration, no matter what the child turns out to be! So, why should the birth of our saviour not be celebrated? Whether the date is set on the 25th of December or 6th of January...
The date doesn’t matter, the understanding is all that counts... so we don’t celebrate a date, what we do is celebrate the reason for Jesus’ birth... imagine a world without Jesus’ birth... Yeah, that thought you just bore occurred to me too...
Christmas ought to remind us of the beginning of the end of our slavery to sin; it should tick off over 2000 years of freedom; Christmas ought to remind us that we (Sons of God that is) once again have the authority to dominate the earth; Christmas should erupt in our hearts like strawberries on the lips of a toddler; Christmas ought to bring gusts of newness and warmth, a fresh outlook at life... Christmas should remind us that despite the throes of the passing year, we still turned out victorious...
The popping crackers, “bangers”, and explosives, street decorations, the falling snow for some of us in temperate climes, the convergence of families, the jingle bells, the Christmas carols, the parties, the “Santa Claus” buzz, the many candies, the Christmas trees and gifts beneath them, the “rice and stew”, the “Christmas clothes”, the “Food Tours”, The “Constipation”, and all other Christmas accomplices should remind us that the firstborn of all creation is the reason why this day is set apart....
Merry Christmas people... I’ve got some families to visit
