SURU

No matter the sunshine or the rainfall
beyond the clouds, the sky remains blue
consistently giving us something to reach for;
night or day, it remains true...
not dependent on validation from the sun...
patiently waiting for the second hand of time to arrive first,
satisfying itself with the wetness of its beauty
even as it thirsts to be seen...
Yeah! We all want to be seen...
The stage, the page, the big screen
Yeah! We all want to be heard...
The airwaves, the raves, yet I heard
that seasons is cousins with time
& that reasons and delays don't always rhyme...
So, when you look on stage and see others mime
their scripts written before time began
remember this simple yoruba chime...
 suru... suru... suru... suru... suru
keep penning those lines
 keep stringing that guitar
keep digging that slime
 keep sending that feedback
for before eternity, the cousins - time and season
will definitely have a family reunion
it wasn't beyond God to create everything we look on
in a day, but he didn't for that would be cutting the ribbon
before the house is finished... through wisdom
a mansion is built with stitches
a mountain was moved by manjihid
& your mantle will net its fishes
Yet... wisdom is a descendant of time
and shares the same surname with patience... Suru
Selah... suru...
Oh! hear the maturity in Suru
the crossed-arm-"I'm-not-microwaving"
"watch-my-flame-rise" chilling-mode of suru
beckons on the endurers for purpose...
As long as the earth remains
seed time and harvest time will never refrain...
and the longer your harvest, the larger your gains -
farmers can share their pains...
for under the sun, there is a time
and its cousin (season) for everything
a time to read about patience
and a time to rid off impatience
a time to court this truth
& a time to marry Suru...
for kings & queens shall suckle your offsprings
if you'll only stay through your "patience-hood"
 Yeah! Long piece, I know...
for those that never really got here
for those hissing cos this piece bores your ear
for those who delight in adulterous affairs
 with shortcuts and fix-me-quick fairs
you probably need a night or two
in the painful arms of Suru...
